A/C Services-

Stay cool and comfortable

How Do I Know if My Vehicle’s A/C Needs Servicing?

Here are a few signs that indicate there is a problem with your car's A/C system. If you notice any of these signs, it is time to come in for an A/C evac/recharge service.

The air isn't cooling - Most of the time, your air conditioner loses cooling because there is low refrigerant, your condenser is broken, or the compressor has a broken or damaged belt.

Hearing a strange noises when your air conditioner is on - If your air conditioner is making a strange noise, it usually comes from a dying compressor or damaged fan motor.

Moist inside your vehicle - Moist air inside your car is usually moisture or debris trapped inside your air conditioning system.

Leaking from your air conditioner - When automotive A/C systems break down or wear out refrigerant can leak. Leaking refrigerant is dangerous and can damage your vehicle’s evaporator and compressor.

Getting your vehicle’s A/C serviced at the first sign of trouble can save you both money and time.

If your car isn’t getting as cool as it should, or if you’ve noticed a leak, it might be time to have your AC system inspected. At G&S Automotive, we use the latest diagnostic technology to get to the bottom of your A/C issues.

Heat Services

Your vehicle’s heating system does more than keep you comfortable. It plays an important role in safety and visibility, especially during cold or wet weather. Understanding how it works can help you recognize when something isn’t operating correctly and when it’s time to have it inspected by a professional.

What is my car’s heat system?

  1. Engine creates heat. When the engine runs, it generates heat as a byproduct of combustion.

  2. Coolant absorbs the heat. Engine coolant circulates through the engine and absorbs the heat to prevent overheating.

  3. Heater core transfers heat. Some of the hot coolant flows through a small radiator called the heater core, located behind the dashboard.

  4. Blower motor pushes air. The blower fan pushes air across the heater core.

  5. Warm air enters the cabin. As air passes over the hot heater core, it heats up and is directed into the cabin through the vents.

  6. Temperature and airflow control. Blend doors, valves, and climate controls regulate how much heat enters the cabin and where the air flows (floor, dash, or windshield.

How your vehicle’s heat system works

When your vehicle’s heating system stops working, it’s more than an inconvenience. It can be a warning sign of a bigger issue. Your car’s heat relies on the engine’s cooling system, so when you loose heat, it often means something isn’t functioning properly under the hood.

When Your Vehicle’s Heat System Stops Working

A heating system failure can be caused by several issues, including:

  1. Low or leaking coolant

  2. A clogged or leaking heater core

  3. A stuck or broken blend door or actuator

  4. A faulty blower motor or resistor

  5. Thermostat failure preventing the engine from reaching proper temperature

Possible Underlying Problems

Beause the heating system uses engine coolant, a lack of heat can indicate a cooling system problem that may also affect engine performance.

Risk of Engine Damage

Ignoring a heating issue can lead to more serious and costly repairs. Low coolant or circulation problems can cause your engine to overheat, which may result in severe damage if left unchecked. What starts as a comfort issue can quickly turn into a mechanical emergency.

Warning Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore

  1. No heat or inconsistent heat from the vents

  2. Sweet or coolant smell inside the vehicle

  3. Foggy windows that won’t clear when heat is on

  4. Coolant leaks or damp carpet on the passenger side

  5. Engine temperature fluctuating or running hot

Prompt diagnosis and repair ensures your vehicle stays safe, reliable, and comfortable. Fixing the heat system, restores proper cabin heating and defrosting, protects your engine from overheating, and helps prevent small issues from becoming major issues.
